VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

If any of these opportunities interest you, note it on the back of the

attendance card.

Third Thursday of each month, a team goes to Immokalee to help in a

soup kitchen. The coordinator is Joyce Parkes—(347) 247-4976.

Mentors for Middle schoolers going through confirmation. Meeting for

mentors at 2pm on Wednesday, February 23rd.

Extra adults are needed to be with the kids ministry leaders on Sundays.

Each volunteer only serves once a month if we have enough interested.

Volunteers are needed for the 2nd, 3rd and 4th Sundays.

Pastoral Care team checks in with our members, especially those in the

hospital, at a rehab, or homebound through phone calls, visits or cards.

FAMILY DAY AT THE CHURCH MARCH 1

March 1st we are planning a fun day of activities in the Fellowship Hall.

10 am parents and young children will have a time of activities.

2 to 4 pm 55+ bingo and refreshments.

6 pm Taco Tuesday for members of the church and families with children to

have a meal and fellowship with the mission team. Reservations are required

so we have enough tacos. Contact the office by noon Monday, Feb. 28th.

FOURTH SUNDAYS ARE FOOD PANTRY SUNDAY

On the fourth Sunday of each month, we encourage donations of non-

perishable food which will go to our food pantry. The food pantry is open

Thursdays from 10 am to 1 pm. Volunteers are needed to help sort the food

we receive. Daphne Forrester is the coordinator.

ASH WEDNESDAY March 2nd

You have two opportunities to receive ashes. From 4:30 to 6:30 pm, Pastor

Patricia along with the Praying Pelicans will be handing out ashes and

instructions to those who drive through the portico by Fellowship Hall. At 7

pm will be a church service in the sanctuary with imposition of ashes.

CALLING ALL GOLFERS

Kiwanis Club of Lehigh Acres is having its Orange Ball Classic on April

23rd at Majestic Golf Club. The brochures with information and the sign up

form are available at the Welcome Table or in the church office. The funds

raised go to scholarships for students who live in Lehigh Acres. Over

$20,000 on scholarships was given out last year. Our church is a corporate

member of Kiwanis.

MISSIONS IN AFRICA

Your giving to the church provides the means to

purchase palm crosses that are made in Tanzania. The

villagers near Masasi earn a fair wage to support their

families and receive basic humanitarian aid.

ALTAR FLOWERS

There are openings for flowers on the altar. The cost is $17.50 per vase. The

book to reserve a date is on the welcome center table.

CHECK DOORS BEFORE YOU LEAVE

Check door handles to make sure doors are locked and latched before you

leave. We are finding too many doors open because they have not latched

shut due to this weather.

LAST CHANCE FOR SPAGHETTI DINNER TICKETS

Spaghetti Dinner Drive Thru Fundraiser is this Saturday, February 26

from 5:30 to 7:30 pm. The meal consists of spaghetti noodles with meat

sauce, salad, roll and dessert. An adult ticket is $10 and a child is

$5. Tickets can be purchased from Paul Billiard and others in the church

or in the church office Monday to Thursday from 9 am to 4 pm. Tickets

can also be purchased online through this link: https://faithlife.com/cumc-

la/give?funds=44935 The take out dinners can be picked up between 5:30

and 7:30 pm at the portico by Fellowship Hall.

Monetary donations will also be accepted but don’t buy a ticket. Just note

on your check/envelope that it is a donation for the spaghetti dinner.

2022 LOCAL CHURCH LEADERSHIP TRAINING

Committee members of Trustees and those who need to take the Child/

Youth Protection Training need to attend one of the 3 training sessions.

The training session scheduled for 2 pm may be done at the church using

the church’s media center in the conference room. You can also attend the

trainings in the evening or on the designated Saturday for your committee

but you must register yourself at bit.ly/local-church-training to receive the

link.

SCOUT SUNDAY BAKE SALE FEBRUARY 27

Members of Troop 11 , Pack 11 and Troop 2018 will be joining us on

Sunday, February 27 to celebrate Scout Sunday. They are fundraising to

go to summer camp so there will be some delicious items to purchase.

PRAYING PELICAN MISSION TEAM COMING

February 26 to March 4 we will have a team of 24 high school students

and 6 chaperones from Tucson, Arizona. They will be joining us for

church on February 27th which is also going to be Boy Scout Sunday.
