LENT READING PLAN

We will be learning about the minor prophets of the Old Testament during

Lent. You should have received a postcard with a reading plan that starts Ash

Wednesday. On the back is Lent and Easter events to put on your calendar.

FOURTH SUNDAYS ARE FOOD PANTRY SUNDAY

On the fourth Sunday of each month, we encourage donations of non-

perishable food which will go to our food pantry. The food pantry is open

Thursdays from 10 am to 1 pm. Volunteers are needed to help sort the food

we receive. Daphne Forrester is the coordinator.

CALLING ALL GOLFERS

Kiwanis Club of Lehigh Acres is having its Orange Ball Classic on April

23rd at Majestic Golf Club. The brochures with information and the sign up

form are available at the Welcome Table or in the church office. The funds

raised go to scholarships for students who live in Lehigh Acres. Over

$20,000 in scholarships were given out last year. Our church is a corporate

member of Kiwanis.

ALTAR FLOWERS

There are openings for flowers on the altar. The cost is $17.50 per vase. The

book to reserve a date is on the welcome center table.

CHECK DOORS BEFORE YOU LEAVE

Check door handles to make sure doors are locked and latched before you

leave. We are finding too many doors open because they have not latched

shut due to this weather.

RUMMAGE SALE APRIL 1 AND 2—Clothing and Craft Supplies

Starting March 28th, we will be receiving your clothing that is in good shape,

shoes and craft supplies you no longer need.

We ARE NOT taking housewares, furniture, linens, toys, tools or holiday

items. We will accept ONLY clothing, shoes and craft supplies.

Buyers will purchase a bag for $10 (small bag) or $20 (large bag) and fill it

up.

There will be a food concession and the UMW baked goods.

The sale on April 1 and 2 will be from 9 am to 2 pm. Watch for a sign-up

sheet to volunteer during set up and the days of the sale.

SCOUT SUNDAY BAKE SALE

Join us in the lobby after the service for a time of fellowship and purchase

an item from the bake sale. The scouts are raising funds to go to summer

camp.

FAMILY DAY AT THE CHURCH MARCH 1

March 1st we are planning a fun day of activities in the Fellowship Hall.

10 to 11 am parents and young children will play and have fun with

members of Praying Pelicans

2 to 4 pm those 55 and up are invited to play bingo with the Praying

Pelicans

6 pm there will be a taco bar so members of the church can meet the

members of the mission team

7 pm is a Family Fun Friday planning meeting in the Conference Room 2

to prepare for the March 17

movie night showing “Encanto”

2022 LOCAL CHURCH LEADERSHIP TRAINING

Committee members of Trustees and those who need to take the Child/

Youth Protection Training need to attend one of the 3 training sessions.

The training session scheduled for 2 pm may be done at the church using

the church’s media center in the conference room. You can also attend the

trainings in the evening or on the designated Saturday for your committee

but you must register yourself at bit.ly/local-church-training to receive the

link.

Here is the schedule for the 2 pm training:

March 1—Child and Youth Protection Policy (mandatory for anyone

working with children. Must provide the church office proof of

attendance)

ASH WEDNESDAY MARCH 2

There will be 2 opportunities to receive ashes.

From 4:30 to 6:30 pm you can drive up to the portico by Fellowship Hall

to receive a packet with ashes and pray with someone.

At 7:00 pm will be the Ash Wednesday Worship Service in the sanctuary

with imposition of ashes.
