As we close and welcome a new season of ministry,
we continue to pursue the vision and mission God
birthed Living Hope into. We hold fast to the truth
that Paul said in Philippians 3:14 because only
through Christ, we exist as a local church.
It has been more than two years since the onset of
the pandemic but we are thankful for the relief and
the grace of God that carried us to where we are
now.
We've seen how you've pressed on through many
personal, marriage and family challenges
presented to us not only by the Pandemic but also
by the changing economic, political and spiritual
landscape in our country and all over the world.
Many of you lost love ones, went through difficult
health and emotional crisis that tested your faith in
God and your relationship with others and your
church family.
We pressed on in adapting to a new way of living
and doing church. Our Lord, our mission, our vision
and message is still the same but we found new
and fresh ways in pursuing our mandates.
We pressed on to birthed our first satellite church in
Victoria. God is already at work even before we
started the work . God has given us the vision to
establish three satellite churches in Vancouver
Island.
Let us press on in Christ in the new season of our
ministry. Let us not rest on our accomplishments
but press on toward the goal for the prize of the
upward call of God in Christ Jesus It is my great
privilege to serve God and you through Living Hope
for the last 20 years. I am looking forward to
another fruitful ministry as we pursue what God has
called us to do as a church.
Blessings,
Pastor Jun Torres

THINGS TO CELEBRATE
From humble beginnings 20 years ago, God has
blessed our church family in more ways than one!
This year is a milestone for us. As such, we find it
appropriate to celebrate not only once, but whole
year! A year of praise and gratitude to the One who
is behind it all. The disciple Luke wrote: “for in Him
we live and move and have our being” (Acts 17:28).
Our Anniversary Sunday in February was a well
fitting tribute to our El Shaddai, the Almighty God
who is sovereign over all things. An inspiring worship,
powerful testimonies, and the proclamation of God’s
Word through Pastor Kevin Cavanaugh, God’s
servant with a heart for all nations. I thought he
connected very well with the body of Christ as he
also shared about his personal experiences in
different mission fields, particularly his experience in
doing missions in the Philippines. Our celebration
continues all year. As an example, there will be a
portion in the Family Camp, where we have an
opportunity to recall, and testify the goodness of
God in our life., with the theme looking back,
pressing on! Same with Thanksgiving Sunday, and
other key events.
The apostle Paul reminds us to keep “Pressing on”
toward the goal (Phil 3:14). After 20 years of ministry,
this is not a place and time to rest on our laurels, but
to continue to strive forward. I saw a sign recently
which says “No Parking, Keep Moving” How
appropriate for us? Our life as believers and
disciples of Christ is viewed as a constant journey
with one goal. Paul's life was a constant forward
motion for Christ. His whole life's purpose and goal is
revealed in the words he wrote in Phil 3:7-8.
So I call on the People of God in LHCC, keep
reminding ourselves No Parking, Keep Moving,
Press ON!! The best is yet to come….

EASTER
HIGHLIGHTS
Easter is the most celebrated occasion at
Living Hope. This year, our message focused
on the Lord's promise to us Christians that He
will save us from our wayward ways. During
the service, we had testimonies and videos of
our recently baptized brothers and sisters
who have accepted Christ this year.
Our in person service was not deterred by the
pandemic as we had 105 attendees including
15 guests. Our celebration continued after the
service with a quick fellowship, a packed
lunch and an Easter package giveaways for
our young guests.
M A R V I N ' S S T O R Y
I lost my parents at a very young age. My Mom passed
when I was 8 then my Dad, 2 years later. This was
especially devastating for me since I was very close to
my parents and losing them made me question
everything. Why did God allow this to happen to me? I
was carrying these questions when my Mom died. And
when my Father died, I had already lost my way. I
didn’t go to church, I only prayed when I needed
something but I didn’t believe.
Fast forward to a few years, when I met this wonderful
woman who is now my wife. Through God’s guidance I
was slowly eased back into the true meaning of being
a child of Christ. I attended church, prayed more
frequently and nourished my relationship with God.
Through God’s grace, we are able to be here in
Canada. This passage that I learned from ETS book 1
will always be applicable in my life, Assurance of
Guidance, Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all
your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in
all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your
paths straight.”

My name is Lois, Im married to Richard. We
had our son at the beginning of the
pandemic. During a time there was a lot of
change. I had to stop work for awhile and
our family plans were postponed. Just like
for most people, things were not certain. We
wanted to trust in God and find peace and

To all the mothers here, I know it can be hard
to get up and have these little people rely on
you. I know its hard when you feel unseen for
the small or big things you do for them. But I
want to remind you, you are their world. You
are the world that this little ones revolve
around. You are their nurture, their home, their
comfort. You are everything to them, and I
hope even on your hard days you know how
special you are. Especially to your little people.

A LOOK BACK OF OUR 20 YEARS
We believe that everything that has happened to
our church is the work of God. We have faith in the
Lord that just as He led us before, He will lead us to
the future. Our hope rest in His word in Philippines 1:3
that says " I am confident of this, that the one who
began a good work among you will bring it to
completion by the day of Jesus Christ. "
To commemorate our 20 years of service we have
highlighted some of the major events that has
happened to our church in the past years.

LOCAL AND INTERNATIONAL IMPACT
One of the ways that we display the glory of God is through our mission. For years now, we
have been actively supporting pastors and partnering with churches so they can declare
the gospel and disciple people who will obey God and will praise Him forever for His grace.
Through the generous donations we received, we were able to help 5 church plants in the
Philippines, 2 in BC, and send support to typhoon and flood victims in some parts of the
world. We are also been a supporter of some bible distribution projects in Mexico, Vietnam
and Philippines.

I was first baptized as a Christian back in the
Philippines when I was 8 yrs old. I may have been too
young to fully understand God's grace of salvation
and I may have lose sight of Him along the way, but I
feel that in spite of it all, God is always with me. He
never fail to lift me up when pressure was high in
college and when I was just starting a career. He
has also blessed me with a husband who truly
supports me in all my endeavours and together we
have made a life in Canada with our two puppies .
Migrating was not easy but with the strength and
wisdom of the Lord, He has led us to a church
community where we can grow and be supported in
all aspects of our life.

SENIORS: The Seniors were engaged in card making which
helped our christmas outreach programs. With Bro Gabs
leadership, we were able to complete ETS Book 3.
MEN: The Men were able to host an outdoor barbecue event
attended by our members, and some guests.
WOMEN: Even in limited face to face meetings, we were
still able to connect via zoom, where we conducted our
events (bridal shower, baby shower, etc.)
MUSIC: There were worship leaders who left but there are
2 new members that joined our team as well. We continue
to navigate this changes and the team compositions that
will work best.
LOCAL MISSION: The Local Mission ministry's goal is to reach
1000 people with the love of Jesus. In pursuit of this, small groups
were encouraged to plan and participate in outreaches with their
contacts and communities.
INTERNATIONAL MISSION: This year, we were able to partner with
Agape Global Ministries and SeedCare Ministries that support
pastors and churches in the Philippines. We were also able to
support bible distribution through Discipleship International and
calamity relief through Red Cross.
SMALL GROUP: Our groups kept meeting through
another year of Pandemic. We praise God for our
leaders' faithfulness in leading their group. One group
was created and we have a number of ETS groups
meeting every week.
CHILDREN: Children are not only taught but are
encouraged to live the truth about God. We provided
devotional materials and updates about the lessons
to get parents engaged with the curriculum

YOUTH: There were consistent attendance among the
youth despite of the pandemic. The youth were taught
how to read the Bible so that they can understand
Gods word and live out their faith. They were also
given opportunities for outreach and to serve
communities.
FAMILY: This year the planned activities were put on-
hold primarily due to recent changes in the personal
situation of the ministry head. We hope to develop
dedicated partners in this ministry and really start
implementing what was planned last year
YOUNG ADULT: Getting a more permanent leader
would help stir the direction of this ministry to fulfilling
NEW and INNOVATIVE goals, discipleship and
leadership trainings.
I praise God for allowing me to become part of His family in LHCC-
Victoria. It is truly a privilege to be able to serve God and others
through the ministries He had called us to. Being a part of the praise
and worship team has been rewarding, yet humbling experience. It’s
amazing to see how many of us who are shy and not used to public
speaking, are now speaking up in front of the congregation to tell of
His goodness and faithfulness in our lives.

VANCOUVER ISLAND CHURCH
By: Pastor Allan Yadao
Our hearts are filled with praises and gratitude to the
Lord for allowing us to be co-partners with you in His
Kingdom building!
What started with a simple prayer and fellowship 2
years ago in Qualicum Beach is now a mission
outreach in Victoria. At first there were only 5
families who saw the need for us to reach out to the
growing population of Filipino immigrants and other
ethnic groups. Then this vision, turned into a desire
and became our prayer for an outreach ministry not
only in Victoria but also up Island (Nanaimo,
Courtenay, Qualicum, Parksville and others). This was
formed at the beginning of the covid pandemic.
These families are based here in Victoria and up-
Island and as we continued to pray, the Lord
answered our prayers and now we are meeting
regularly every Sunday for worship service and for
some, Saturday (Discipleship Classes) and other
days of the week for prayer
