Hello October! This month is going to fly by with all that we
have planned! Expect pumpkins galore as we utilize bake, build,
and explore with STEAM projects, a field trip, and even a party!
We are learning to decode (read) and encode (write) CVC words
in our Phonics program and are beginning to work high
frequency words into our reading and writing. We are following
the Science of Reading to build a foundation of learning that will
help us sound out just about ANY word thrown our way! We are
also diving deep into book studies as we learn about character,
setting, and retelling what we read.
Our new writing unit is all about writing with
stories. We will be incorporating story telling
into our work as we continue to practice
illustrating with detail and writing with words
and sentences. We are building confidence
in our work as authors and are learning that
mistakes are A-OK!
Math this month will be all about Making Ten, Counting to 15,
and problem solving. October will also bring us to the end of
our Citizenship unit in Social Studies where we have learned
about how to be a good citizen in our school, our neighbor-
hood, and our world.

And be glad in it [echo] And be glad in it.
This is the day that the Lord has made,
We will rejoice and be glad in it.

That the Lord has made.
